What some of our guests are saying
We were greeted by Mark on arrival, complete with lovely platters of snacks which were regularly topped up during our stay. The twin room that we booked was fantastic - warm, comfortable, practical & very inviting. Deb and Mark are, by far, two of the bests hosts ever! Nothing was too much trouble for either of them, and they happily answered (or found out) our endless queries. Great advice given by both of what to see & do. Breakfasts and dinner were delicious, freshly cooked & exactly as we ordered as recommended by Mark. Even the recommendation for the local hairdresser was spot on. Will look forward to a return visit in the near future. Cannot recommend this lovely, clean, beautifully appointed B&B highly enough. The term "home away from home" is more than applicable to this B&B.

This little treasurer is a home away from home...you are welcomed like an old friend dropping in for a cup of coffee. I will definately be staying here again....regularly. warm and cosy and breakfast is something not to miss......very filling.

The Pommy Tree is a superb B&B. The hosts Debbie and Mark are fantastic, so warm and welcoming. They provided us with really comfortable and excellent accommodation for our two night stay. The first night when we arrived, we were invited to use the swimming pool which was very relaxing after a long journey. We were also lucky that night because Debbie was cooking dinner for anyone who wanted to eat there rather than in town. We smelled the meat cooking while we were having a swim and were delighted we had the option. The meal was delicious as was the breakfast in the morning. The B&B was also well situated. It was so easy to get into Canberra from the Pommy Tree and a delight to get back to. We would most definitely choose to stay there again. Thanks Mark and Debbie for a wonderful two days.
“Warm reception and great home from home feel.” August 2013
Wonderful. Cannot fault this gem of a B&B or the warm hospitality from Mark and Debbie. They insist that you 'make your self at home', help yourself to tea and coffee and the snacks left out for you, and generally relax and enjoy the luxury of their beautiful home. Clean and comfortable beds. Bathroom with shower and spa bath. Amazing breakfast, thanks Mark. Wish I could have stayed for dinner! Shame it wasn't warm enough for a dip in the pool. Free wifi too, which is always a bonus. Highly recommend!
“A home away from home” September 2013
My husband and 17 month old daughter really did make ourselves at home at Debbie and Mark's B&B. We had dinner the first night and it was great; a terrine for starters, then roast pork with crackling and vegetables (two types of potato!), Manchester pie for dessert and a cheese platter for afters! We couldn't finish most of it! The breakfast was just as generous, we didn't even touch the cereal or fruit as the cooked meal was so huge!
The bedroom was very roomy, and we had a lot of stuff as we were travelling with a toddler. The beds were comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean. We were able to use the bath in the main bathroom to bathe our daughter and as there was a single room free we were able to put our daughter's portacot in that room.
Debbie even went so far as to purchase a child safety gate to protect our daughter from falling down the stairs to their apartment. Nothing was too much trouble. Recommendations on where to go, brochures in the book in our room.... All made for a great stay. We were a bit sad to leave!!
Behind the unassuming exterior of this lovely B & B, a little bit of English "know how" awaits. You will not be disappointed with anything about The Pommy Tree. All the facilities have been renovated with thought and care to give you a most pleasant & relaxing experience. And Mark & Debbie have the perfect mix of interaction and privacy for their "guests". Mark's 4am start to prepare fresh fruit, yogurt, tea & coffee, and takeaway Bacon Butties for our early morning flight was greatly appreciated and testament to their approach.

“The Best B&B experience ever!” October 2013
We booked the twin room for 2 nights. It was the best decision we made on holiday/travel accommodation. On arrival we were greeted warmly by Mark and Debbie, and they wanted us to feel relaxed and comfortable, and insisted that we use all areas of the house and garden. The room was delightful with its own ensuite. This B&B has opened recently, so everything is almost new -rooms look exactly as shown in the internet. It's centrally heated, which is a bonus on cold mornings. You can order dinner for an additional cost, but well worth the experience. Mark made us a delicious dinner, we could only go up to 3 courses because portions are far too generous. Our experience with them was unforgettable. Thank you Mark and Debbie. You are such wonderful ans generous hosts.
I actually got a five star treat in a B&B. Completely beyond my expectation. Lovely breakfast, worth much more than I could be served in any 4 star hotel. I was in Canberra for a conference right in the center of the city - ANU. After each busy day, I would return to The Pommy Tree for a relaxing environment. Even though the location is outside the city (about 45 minutes by bus from city center), I really enjoyed it as there is a bus stop right outside. I told Mark and Debbie that I would be back someday and possibly with my family. - Booking.com November 2013
One night was not enough to enjoy this lovely b & b. Don.t be deceived by suburban location. Once inside this is so lovely and we were spoilt by our wonderful hosts with fresh fruit and locally produced mead. About ten minutes from Canberra central. - Trip Advisor December 2013
